1948 Eiffel Chair, White -Metal

$109.00

Created in 1948, the molded shell chair achieved 2nd place out of 3000 entries in the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design by the Museum of Modern Art. The shell was designed to accommodate various base types. 'Dowel' refers to the Wooden Peg Leg style. The wooden dowels incorporate slots for attaching the metal plates underneath. Wire cross bracing enhances structural stability and adds an industrial design element. This chair, like the original, includes a wood and steel base with a shell made of ABS plastic featuring a soft satin sheen. The weld points on the chrome elements of the base have been sanded and sealed. Similar to the original, it has a 'waterfall curved edge' for seating comfort at the back of the legs. The shape and dimensions respect the 1948 original, complete with non-marking floor protectors.
