Fiberglass Rocker, Black/Walnut
The term RAR highlights the unique features of this Eames masterpiece, standing for Rocker height, Armchair, and Rocking base. As a design marvel, its comfort surprises anyone who sits in it, showcasing a bold aesthetic. Initially, when I encountered the RAR, its unique design drew my fascination immediately. Mixing a deep seat with a high backrest, the Fiberglass shell is complemented by a wire Eiffel frame and wooden rocker arms. This design brings to mind a combination of a chair and a child's rocking horse. Historically, the Eames RAR Rocker has links to children; rumors suggest Herman Miller gifted them to employees on the birth of a child as nursery furniture. Although Herman Miller ceased the original production in 1968, they now offer a plastic version of the classic design. The RAR has seen diverse usage in mid-century modern interiors, nurseries, and more. Many regard it as a standout piece for any setting indoors or outdoors.
