Copenhagen '45 Mid-Century Modern Loveseat

A well recognized icon of mid-century modern design. Free flowing, airy and elegant in concept. The original series was created in 1945 by Danish mid century modern furniture designer Finn Juhl. In handcrafting this mid-century modern masterpiece, the Kardiel Copenhagen '45 combines quality material such as solid American Walnut timbers and durable twill upholstery with attention to the original intricate design detail.

Making the Icon

The year was 1945 and Finn Juhl had just released the original model 45 chair. The 45 was a break from the traditional arm chair in that the seat and back were freed by design from the frame of the chair. A floating visual from all angles and an architecturally intriguing frame were the bi-products of this newly found freedom. Like the original, this exceptional reproduction features a solid timber American Walnut frame. Finn achieved the drawn out wind swept appearance by drawing the arms upward and forward while the mid seat frame section draws down and toward the back. Comfort is achieved through the foam wrapped and upholstered foam frame and plush multi-density seat cushion.

The subtle curve of the back follows the original intent and provides a seating experience that surrounds and cradles with comfort. The soft sculptural flow is achieved with rotated round timbers that arch and curve at select points rather than ending at sharp 90 degree edges. True to the original, natural solid American Walnut is used to create the frame. A clear polyurethane finish is applied. The 45 is a complicated piece to reproduce with numerous details crucial to the success of the overall design.

High grade Italian leather is used on all surfaces of this Copenhagen Loveseat.

Italian Leather is a grade class above the standard grade leather. Realistic leather graining and a softer surface to the touch results in a more comfortable lounging experience.

About American Walnut

The American Walnut species is widely admired for its exceptional color tone and graining. While there are many stains which attempt to miimick the "walnut color" the actual American Walnut species acheives its brown tone without the use of stains. The natural wood presents lighter and darker tones within the various grains, something not acheivable with a topical stain. American Walnut in its natural state is a premium choice for wood species and used often in modernist upscale furniture pieces. American Walnut is capable of coordinating well with other wood species both light and dark.

The best value for those looking for a full service delivery experience with no lifting or physical effort involved. A team of 2 rigorously screened home delivery professionals arrive on a day and time prescheduled with you. Your furnishings are brought into your home and placed in the desired location in the room(s) of your choice. The furniture is removed from the packaging/boxes. The old packaging material is then placed in a designated location.

Perhaps you need door(s) removed and replaced? Maybe you live in a condo or high rise building? Maybe there are flight(s) of stairs to climb? The safe arrival of your items is guaranteed and no obstacle is too large. We will do anything necessary to complete your delivery with quality, care and a smile. Average delivery times are 9-12 business days from the day your order leaves the Kardiel warehouse.

Curbside Residential Delivery

This economical delivery option brings your new furnishings direct to your home or business. The term curbside indicates that the items are brought to the "curb" but not inside the home.

This is a signed delivery option which means you will need to be present to accept the delivery. You will need to be prepared to carry the items into your home or office as this service does not include inside delivery. Tracking numbers are provided within 24 hours of your order leaving the Kardiel warehouse. Average delivery times nationwide for this service are 7-10 business days from the day the shipment leaves the Kardiel warehouse. The delivery is guaranteed safe when you inspect and sign with the driver for any potential shipping damage. The delivery company calls to schedule the delivery date and window of time as the arrival date of your items draws closer.

Hawaii & Alaska

Hawaii & Alaska orders allow average 12-18 business days for arrival. Tracking numbers will be provided. Alaska and Hawaii orders are not eligible for advertised "continental U.S" shipping promotions. As over water transport is involved, the shopping cart will not calculate
