Large Majolica Ginger Jar
Majolica pottery began in the 16th century and is mainly recognized by its milky-white glaze applied post-first firing. It is a broad category that includes Spanish Talavera and Italian Maiolica. In Mexico, Majolica differs from traditional Talavera through artistic form and color use. While Talavera is famed for its detailed patterns, Majolica opts for freer designs. The Santa Rosa workshop, established by the Salazar family in central Mexico's mountains, uses local clay from the Sierra de Santa Rosa. For over forty-five years, the Salazar descendants have managed everything from clay sourcing to design. Each piece from Santa Rosa is a unique artwork that brings cultural artistry home. Our Flower & Hummingbird pots, jars, and vases cater to refined tastes. The Hummingbird Ginger Jars make memorable housewarming and wedding gifts and serve as excellent living, kitchen, or dining room accents. Modern high-temperature kilns give each jar and vase a durable finish against chips and cracks.
