El Palomar Stoneware Dessert/Bread Plate

$14.21

Stoneware is known for its durability and resilience as one of the toughest pottery materials. Created from finely ground clay, inelastic earth, and rock, stoneware is identified by its specific ingredients and high firing temperatures needed to achieve optimal hardness. Since 1964, El Palomar has crafted stoneware in Tlaquepaque, Mexico, and is known for its presidential commissions and cross-border business ties with America. This collaboration involved skilled artists like Ken Edwards and led to El Palomar's reputation as a pioneer of quality, high-fired stoneware in Mexico. The stoneware uses a proprietary, lead-free mix sourced from the mines of Celaya in central Mexico. This unique clay composition makes each piece require 28 days for complete production. Classified as high-fire stoneware, the pieces are heated to 2,350 F (1,287 C), resulting in a vitrified surface that is watertight and safe for microwaves, ovens, and dishwashers. The intricate patterns of El Palomar stoneware are a family legacy still overseen by the Kent family, ensuring each piece is carefully hand-painted and finished. El Palomar stoneware represents exceptional artisanal craftsmanship and creates lasting pieces you can cherish for generations. Discover the design that resonates with you.
