Eternity Modern

Set of Two Mid Century Modern Wishbone Chairs in Natural Ash

$799.00

The Wishbone Chair offers a light and sculptural design, contrasting the heavier styles popular in the 1950s. Crafted with premium natural materials, this Hans Wegner Wishbone Dining Chair is built for longevity and provides excellent comfort. Made from solid ash wood, it comes in Natural, Walnut, Black, or White finishes. The seat is intricately hand-woven with durable paper cord. Treated with eco-friendly, oil-based stain, all materials are non-toxic and fire-resistant. Wood, a natural material, showcases unique grain, texture, and color variations, meaning finished pieces will differ slightly from one another. Hans Jorgensen Wegner was a notable Danish designer recognized for his high-quality work, which helped popularize mid-century Danish design internationally. Known for Organic Functionality, his modernist approach focused on functionality. Scandinavian countries primarily inspired this movement with contributions from Poul Henningsen, Alvar Aalto, and Arne Jacobsen. Wegner's career spanned over the creation of 500 chairs, more than 100 of which entered mass production, becoming iconic designs. Wegner worked under Arne Jacobsen before founding his own company and collaborated with architect Brge Mogensen on furniture designs for Danish grocery chain FDB. Later in life, Wegner designed several chairs for PP Mobler, staying active until retiring in the final decade of his life. The 'Hoop Chair,' a notable piece originally designed in 1965, went into wood-only production in 1985.
