In the 1930s, Eero Saarinen developed a series of plywood chairs with organic shapes. These designs won the 1940 Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition sponsored by MoMA. Inspired by this achievement, Saarinen went on to create a chair aimed at delivering exceptional comfort.
