In the 1930s, designer Eero Saarinen developed a series of chairs with natural, flowing shapes made from plywood. These pieces earned the prize at the MoMA's 1940 Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition. Inspired by this achievement, Saarinen went on to create a chair designed to offer exceptional comfort.
