Saarinen Executive Leather Armchair - Wood Legs Vegan Leather-White / Walnut
Eero Saarinen designed a series of plywood chairs in the 1930s, winning MoMA's 1940 Organic Design competition. These inspired his Executive Side Chair and Armchair, lauded for comfort and aesthetics, earning awards like the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award. Constructed with a molded fiberglass shell, the chair features high-elasticity foam and genuine down feather layers. Upholstered in premium fabric or leather, it has natural ash, walnut, or black-stained wood legs. Safety is prioritized with non-toxic, fire-resistant materials. This piece arrives fully assembled. Saarinen's architectural ideals were to enhance human life, evident in iconic projects like the Gateway Arch, influencing modernism through building designs for well-known institutions. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1923, Saarinen contributed to the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and graduated from Yale University's architecture school in 1934. Known for adapting styles to clients’ needs, he was a visionary pushing modernism's limits. Saarinen's promising career was brief due to his death in 1961. His firm partners completed his pending projects, and his work gained renewed interest with a posthumous exhibition, preserving his legacy.
