  • Mario Bellini is an Italian architect and designer, celebrated for his sleek and functional furniture, including couches, sofas, and dining chairs. His modular sofa design allows for rearrangement to address everyday home needs. Born on February 1, 1935, in Milan, Italy, he graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a PhD in architecture in 1959. Bellini began his career with Olivetti, redesigning the typewriter with a wedge-like body and rubber-skin keyboard. He gained recognition for his office chairs: Figura, Persona, Imago, and Forma. Since the 1980s, he has focused on architectural projects, including the Sheik Zayed Museum in 2007 and the London Link Bridge at Deutsche Bank in 2010. Bellini currently resides and works in Milan, Italy, with his work featured in collections at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York.
