These underlayments smooth out minor subfloor imperfections, provide moisture protection over wood or concrete, and offer added insulation and sound control. While the flooring is waterproof, moisture intrusions from concrete, flooding, or leaks can affect it over time. Trapped moisture below the flooring can also lead to mildew or mold.
