Punch Needle Lumbar Pillow - Seafoam Green/Brown
After years of working with rope on macrame projects and then creating punch needle wall art, I’m now diving into the plush world of pillows! All my punch needle pillow covers are punched completely by hand and are one-of-a-kind. I prefer to keep the designs simple so they make a bold statement on your sofa, chair, or bed while still providing a soft look and feel from the punched loops. Each pillow cover can be purchased either with or without an insert.
The design on this pillow cover felt like a flag when I was making it, but once it was stuffed it thankfully said, "pillow" instead. I was so excited to find yarn that beautifully matched the seafoam-y green in the variegated yarn! I didn't expect the slightly striped look that appeared from that yarn but like how it creates visual texture in addition to the actual textures of the various yarns I chose. While all the pillow covers are unique, this one is different in one additional way - the upholstery fabric on the back. It also matches the colors in the yarn and is a lovely design on its own. The cover was sewn into a 12" x 20" envelope-style cover, and is sold WITH a high quality down-alternative insert.
This project was a collaboration with Refugee Artisan Initiative - a Seattle nonprofit agency that works with refugee and immigrant women to build upon and market their skills in sewing and jewelry-making. I do the design and punch needle work on these pillow covers, and the sewing is done by RAI. Your purchase of this pillow case helps support these artisan women in their transition to a new life in the US.
