Pair of Large Italian Wrough Iron Chandeliers 1970s circa
Monumental Italian iron chandeliers. a pair of hand-made wrought iron chandeliers dating to 1970s circa, with twelve curved arms, twisted iron rods and achanthus leaf decorations and scrolls. They come from the winter garden of an old country villa in Lombardy, in good age related condition; the very beautiful distressed-worn patina, which shows traces of an old green laquer, gives this pair of antique chandeliers, Lombard artworks from the second half of the 20th century, an evocative, charming and anything but rustic flavor. The masterful wrought-iron craftsmanship of this pair of antique Italian chandeliers with a circular basket frame is inspired by intricate curved foliate motifs of Rococo taste skillfully combined with lines of more classical and traditional design, more rigorous elements such as the tall twisted uprights typically in candelabras and lighting of ancient castles and cathedrals. The impressive dimensions of this pair of twelve-armed pendant lights -high 160 cm with a diameter of 107 cm- are lightened by the balance of the lines, the aerial lightness of the vertical development and the rich composition of harmonious scrolls and phytomorphic details that makes this pair of antique chandeliers extremely versatile architectural elements for contemporary interiors. No wiring, in good overall condition, currently they are a pair of candleholders, see the listed winter garden images; the wooden candles visible in the images were just placed for the photo shoot.
