Very pretty vintage all metal all yellow mushroom table lamp desk light medium mid century modern design 1970s pop art ochre Herda

In this listing we are very pleased to offer a great all yellow all metal mushroom table lamp. In our personal favourite color: dark yellow! The lamp is entirely made of coated metal, inclusive of the shade, which makes it a solid lamp. The inside of the shade is also coated yellow! The lamp is made of a weighted (likely a steel disc) flat base that is covered with a yellow coated metal aluminum disc with nice rounded sides. The central tube is made of coated metal, likely steel. The shade is fixed on the base through a 4-armed metal lamp harp. This lamp harp in its turn is held on its place over the bulb holder with a screwable ring. A nice design detail is the chromed knob on top that is sunken into the shade whereas more commonly it sticks out way above the shade as can be seen with some of the acrylic mushroom lamps we (usually) have for sale (IF NOT SOLD). Although mid century mushroom lamps come in all designs, shapes, materials and colours we have never seen this particular model and certainly not is this great color. The color is fully original, so it is not repainted in any way. The lamp is not marked and we do not know which manufacturer made it. We bought it in the Netherlands and based on some elements we think it may have been made by Herda Verlichting of Amsterdam but we do not have proof to back this up yet. As it is very well built and has an aluminum bulb holder our second suggestion would be that it was by a German manufacturer. Based on the design, colours, quality and technical details we date this lamp to the period 1975 - 1980. The lamp takes 1 E27 size bulb with screw type fitting. The aluminum bulb holder is still the original. The lamp is fitted with what we believe to be the original black lamp cord of 221 centimeters / 87.01 inches with a new (replacement) inline switch at 39 centimeters / 15.35 inches from the base and an equally new 2-pin European plug. The lamp was designed for a 220/230 volt network. With adjustments it can be used in countries with a different voltage and or plug. Measurements: Height: 39.5 cm / 15.55 inches Diameter of the shade at its widest point: 25.5 cm / 10.04 inches Diameter of the base: 14 cm / 5.51 inches Length of the lamp cord: 221 cm / 87.01 inches Weight: 2174 grams. Condition: Very good to excellent condition. This great design lamp of about 40 to 45 years of age is in a very pleasing condition. The yellow color is wonderfully deep dark yellow and consistent between base, tube and shade. The paint still has a great gloss too. There are no color differences or lighter patches. The only comment concerning the paint coat is that at the side of the base it can be seen that the paint was applied slightly thinner over a stretch of about 15 centimeters / 5.91 inches as the black of the metal lightly pierces through in this area. At the bottom rim of the base cover there are a few deformations. In daily use these do not stand out. Both the tube and the base cover are entirely scratch free. The base cover does have an incidental scuff but nothing beyond the size of a pen point. The tube is altogether in a virtual mint condition. The shade is in very good condition with only a few minor traces: - around the sunken chromed nut there is paint wear caused by friction. It is all around but nowhere beyond 2 millimeters / 0.08 inches - next to one of the air holes is a line of 3 scuff patches in the paint. These scuffs do not run deep enough to reach the metal below but can be seen in the paint coat although they are not that obvious. - halfway the shade is one tiny dent, roughly the size of a pen point. There is no paint loss on the outside but there is on the inside. The latter is of course out of sight. The dent is so small that in daily use it will not get noticed. Apart from these minor points the coating on the shade is in a mouthwatering condition : perfectly applied, smooth and glossy without any imperfections. There are no (rim) deformations in the shade. The metal lamp harp has a bit of rust blemish here and there but is otherwise in fine condition. The bulb holder and ring show their age and use but are damage free and perfectly safe to use. The lamp cord is in very good condition without remarks. As stated the switch and plug are new replacements.
