Fine Cuzco School Painting, 20th c.: "The Union of the Descendants of the Imperial Incas with the Houses of Loyola and Borja" Original, Cuzco, 1718. This extraordinary painting is a meticulous oil on canvas copy of one of the most iconic images of the Cuzco School of Painting, and shows the wedding of St. Ignatius Loyola's nephew, Don Martin Garcia de Loyala, Governor of Chile, to Dona Beatriz, heiress nusta and Princess of Peru, being the daughter of Don Diego Inca, the Last King of Peru. In an almost surrealist arrangement, their daughter, Dona Lorenza, is shown in the upper right background being married to Lord Don Juan de Borgia, son of the Sainted Franciscus de Borgia, an ambassador of the Catholic King Phillip II to Germany and Portugal. In the upper left hand corner are three of her ancestors: Diego Sairi Tupa, Felipe Tupa Amaru, and 'nusta' Cusi Huarcay. This copy of the original painting; one of the highlights of the marvelous Pedro de Osma Collection located in Baranco, outside of Lima, is distinctive for its attention to detail and faithfulness to the original. Painted in the Spring of 2005 by the famous contemporary follower of the Cuzco School, Pablo Huaman Bejar, under the direction of Maria Ugas, the daughter of Maria Ugas - the last member of the family to own and manage CASA MAS / JOSE MAS ALFARO, it excels in painterly accomplishment. It was done for a Private Philadelphia Collector, and was the star of his collection. Size: 64'' x 60'', 163 x 152 cm (stretcher); 68.25'' x 64.75'', 173 x 164 cm (frame).
