Mid-Century Pirkka Couch Table by Ilmari Tapiovaara for Laukaan Puu, 1960s

Original Pirkka coffee table by Laukaan Puu according to a design by Ilmari Tapiovaara from the 1950s. This coffee table version of the Pirkka is very rare and hardly to be found.

An original tapiovaara from the time and no current replica. The design combines rusticity with elegance. Rustic in materiality, elegant in the finely executed construction. A divided table top breaks the size of the table surface and makes it appear lighter and less dominant. The contrast, the characteristic two -color of the table top and frame, is particularly important. The frame consists of black painted full wood elements, which are designed in a spindle shape and functionally connected. The table is in a remarkable very good condition and has hardly any signs of wear. The surface was probably protected by a covering, whereupon traces on the underside indicate. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution.
