Turkmenistan Woman Ceremonial Chyrpe Coat

DESCRIPTION: An antique Turkmenistan woman ceremonial coat or mantle (chirpi, chyrpy, chyrpe) of black woven silk and cotton, lined with printed woven cotton cloth and embroidered all over with red, brown, yellow and white cotton/silk thread. The hem is further embellished with black and red tassels. The 'Sleeves' are for decoration only, and are attached on the back by a thin braid and further decorated by tassels.
