Quality ingredients not typically available at this price point. Notice the heft of the seat cushion? The Kardiel reproduction of this mid century modern icon features heavy down feather overstuffed cushions you can sink into. An original metal Sinuos no sag "S Coil" suspension system encased in high density foam was selected for the seat platform of Jackie. Adding flair, the splay base is narrower where it meets the floor, has a higher degree of outward angle. For stylizing effects the length of the leg has been extended approximately 1” further than a typical splay design. A hand crafted solid kiln dried hardwood frame features metal and dowel joinery methods.

Some of the most relevant modernism seating designs were created in the 1950's & 60's. Perhaps you are in search of the midcentury icon that is large enough for real life. Jackie features substantial proportions and is designed to effortlessly perform mixed roles, whether you are curling up your legs for some comfortable reading time or formally hosting in black. Jackie's expansive profile is achieved by using wider down feather overstuffed seat cushions without button tufting. An upholstered solid wood bottom seat rail curves at each end rolling upward and outward into vertical flaring arms. The affixed low profile single piece back features one row of period correct blind tufting but perhaps the base of Jackie is the most telling modernist detail of the design.

Whether placed in the center of the room or with its back to the wall, the solid gently curved varnished wood undercarriage adds the element of handcrafted artisan design. The wooden mid century modern flair leg is the perfect option for suspending Jackie’s frame from the floor. The degree of leg flair angle was carefully measured staying authentic to this original 1950’s design feature. The timeless splayed leg design with the correct degree of outward angle pulls all of Jackie’s modernism features together capturing the true feeling of the period.

Genuine Top Grain Aniline Leather

A small percent of the world’s leather supply is of high enough quality for 100% Top Grain Aniline upholstered furniture. Aniline Dyeing is the process of soaking the hides in transparent aniline dyes which allows color to absorb into the natural hide. Top Grain Aniline leather is then topical stain protected to minimize liquid absorption during every day use but does not require imitation grain stamping methods which imprint a Faux grain over the majority of the leather surface. Without all the synthetic topical coatings, it breathes naturally making it comfortable for seating. It is soft, supple, durable and pliable, maintaining the characteristics of pure leather.
