Ragnar Granit
Ragnar Arthur Granit (1900-1991), Finnish-Swedish physician, physiologist and Nobel laureate. Granit was educated in Helsinki, Finland, but in 1940 sought refuge in Stockholm, Sweden, from the Soviet-Finnish wars, thereafter maintaining a home in both countries. Granit shared the 1967 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine with Haldan Keffer Hartline and George Wald. The share of the Nobel was awarded for Granit's work on the physiology and chemistry of the eye. Photographed in 1961. Photograph from Wilma Bjorling.
