Petal Lamp, Black - 23.6"
Poul Henningsen is renowned for the Artichoke Lamp, a spherical design resembling a plant. Often called the PH Lamp, it came about in 1958, showcasing Henningsen's support for 'functionalism' and 'natural living.' His objective was to design an artichoke-shaped lamp that softened the electric light's harshness. Initially, the design was made for the Langeline Pavilion Restaurant in Copenhagen, where they still hang today. The lamp exemplifies the blend of form and function, fitting into any decor style. This modern chandelier is a detailed, handcrafted reproduction of the original Artichoke pendant lamp, created by Poul Henningsen in 1958. Features include a 23.62 inches diameter with 12 arches and 11 rows of laser-cut 'leaves.' The first four rows increase in size, while the next seven maintain the largest size. All 66 'leaves' open into the classic 'artichoke' shape, reflecting and dispersing light softly. Each leaf's offset position conceals the direct light source, offering a gentle, indirect illumination. It's recognized globally as a modern classic icon in lighting.
