Apollo Mid Century Modern Chair

Originally designed in 1962 the Apollo mid century modern chair is a rare combination of organic expression and technical streamlining. The four upholstered shells give maximum support of the body with overt associations to both spinal column and ribs of the human anatomy. Due to its floating constellation, Apollo seems to be almost transparent and effortlessly blends in with the room. In noteable appearance, Apollo was the chair used by the chiefs of state in Europe during the EU summit in Copenhagen in Dec. 2002.

The essential design is a rare combination of organic expression and ideals, ergonomics, functionality, and technical streamlining. The presence of the four separate, upholstered, oval shaped shells meeting your back at ideal parts, providing maximum comfort and support to the body and the spinal column, as the chair itself appears to have one of its own running down the back of the chair and joining the four shells together. The shells also seem to represent the way the ribs look and are attached to the spine, embracing the flow and the ultimate design of human anatomy. The support (spine) of the chair and everything else is mad of stainless steel frame with a high lustrous finish, and the upholstery comes in either high grain Italian leather or a wide range of fabrics and colours. The oval shells are heavily padded and made of moulded polyurethane foam, and the legs are made of matt chromed spring steel. The he roundness of the elliptical supports of the backrest comes all the way that can also be provided as armrests as well. A surprisingly comfortable modernist lounge chair with ergonomic support is the practical result of the Apollo design.

Both the elliptical design of the chair and its name were inspired by a time-lapse photograph of a solar eclipse.

About Cashmere Wool

Cashmere wool fiber is obtained from “Cashmere goats.” Historically, fine-haired Cashmere goats have been called Capra hircus laniger, as if they were a subspecies of the domestic goat Capra Hircus. Cashmere goats produce a double fleece that consists of a fine, soft undercoat or under-down of hair mingled with a straighter and much coarser outer coating of hair called Guard Hair. For the fine under-down to be sold and processed further, it must be de-haired. De-hairing is a mechanical process that separates the coarse hairs from the fine hair. After this separating process the resulting premium “cashmere” is ready to be dyed and converted into yarn.

A team of 2 rigorously screened home delivery professionals arrive on a day and time prescheduled with you. Your furnishings are brought into your home and placed in the desired location in the room(s) of your choice. The furniture is removed from the packaging/boxes. The old packaging material is then placed in a designated location.

This economical delivery option brings your new furnishings direct to your home or business. The term curbside indicates that the items are brought to the "curb" but not inside the home.

This is a signed delivery option which means you will need to be present to accept the delivery. You will need to be prepared to carry the items into your home or office as this service does not include inside delivery. Tracking numbers are provided within 24 hours of your order leaving the Kardiel warehouse. Average delivery times nationwide for this service are 7-10 business days from the day the shipment leaves the Kardiel warehouse. The delivery is guaranteed safe when you inspect and sign with the driver for any potential shipping damage. The delivery company calls to schedule the delivery date and window of time as the arrival date of your items draws closer.

Hawaii & Alaska

Hawaii & Alaska orders allow average 12-18 business days for arrival. Tracking numbers will be provided. Alaska and Hawaii orders are not eligible for advertised "continental U.S" shipping promotions. As over water transport is involved, the shopping cart will not calculate
