Plywood Lounge Chair & Ottoman, Espresso Genuine Leather/ Walnut
Introduced by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956, the Eames lounge chair and ottoman quickly became iconic. The lounge chair was assigned the numerical name 670, and the ottoman was named 671. The set made its public debut on the TV show that later became known as the 'Today Show.' Since then, it has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including 'Friends,' 'Iron Man,' 'Royal Pains,' and 'Tron.' The Eames Lounge Chair is celebrated for its classic design and continuous production since its inception. It is not only stylish but also very comfortable, a rare combination in high-design furniture. In the US, the Eames lounge and ottoman retail for around $4,200 or more, depending on the veneer selection. In Europe, Top Grain Aniline Leather versions are significantly more expensive, costing around $9,000 for the classic Palisander/black leather version. The chair's appeal partly lies in its comfort, as the Eames prioritized usability in their designs. Original examples of the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman are displayed in New York's Museum of Modern Art.
