Kardiel
Plywood Dining Chair, Natural
Designed using pre-WWII plywood molding technology developed by the Eames, the original chair was an entrant in the Museum of Modern Art's 1940 'Organic Furniture Competition.' Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen, designer of the Womb Chair, won the competition with their LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) design. However, production was delayed due to the United States' entry into WWII. This reproduction of the Eames Style Plywood Lounge Chair (LCW) has a solid form and familiar feel, reminiscent of elementary school chairs but much more comfortable. Available in black, white, brown leather, or cowhide covers, it offers a practical and whimsical use of space. The modernist design with a 'Western style' look encourages a relaxed mood in any setting. Kardiel's reproduction stays true to the original 1946 design, featuring quality construction for long-lasting service. The molded plywood contours invite relaxation, and the precise back and seat angles provide the intended seating position. This high-quality reproduction offers all the original's features at a fraction of the cost.
