Concord Grape

The Concord Grape (Vitis labrusca 'Concord') is a classic American grape variety known for its bold flavor and versatility. It is renowned for producing large, dark purple grapes that are commonly used for making grape juice, jams, jellies, and even wine. Its clusters of grapes are tightly packed, showcasing a deep purple hue. The flavor is distinctively rich, combining sweetness with a subtle tartness. They are seeded. It is a vigorous, deciduous vine with large, lobed leaves that take on vibrant shades of green during the growing season. Concord Grapes typically ripen in late summer to early fall, around August to September. The vines usually start bearing fruit in their third or fourth year after planting. It can reach impressive sizes, with mature plants often spanning 15 to 20 feet in length. When provided with proper support, such as a trellis or arbor, the plant can climb to heights of 8 to 10 feet. Most grape varieties, including Concord, are self-pollinating. However, planting multiple vines can enhance pollination and increase fruit production. It thrive in USDA hardiness zones 5 through 8, making them well-suited for temperate climates with cold winters.
