2004 Virco Holbrook Designed Mid-Century Modern Style Labeled Sky Blue Shell Chair With Chrome Legs and Blue Matching Feet Boots
Cool … Richard Holbrook designed MCM “adult educational chair” ….. Larger than most Vircos. Very comfortable; intentionally designed with wide contoured seat; a surprisingly comfortable flex back … for arching & stretching the back; and, a waterfall seat front. In rare … Sky Blue. Bright chrome legs; very minor corrosion. With 4 matching Sky Blue feet boots … not the customary boring round circle-shapes, but, gently extend ... like little shoe “boots” …. Richard Holbrook … highlighted on the label … was a world renowned master industrial designer … and creatively and prolifically designed for Peugeot, Dacor, and Thermador; working throughout Europe, until returning to California. The original label confirms the provenance and is temporarily lightly affixed to the front back; by yours truly. It was very loosely attached to the underside. So we gently removed it. And have it lightly “scotch taped” … to the front; for marketing purposes. I kinda like the label there. But, it’ll be your chair soon and you can glue it wherever you’d like. I think it’s cool to publicly flaunt “Richard Holbrook’s name”…. In over-all very fine shape! Considering its age and suspected use. With one noted minor scratch where pictured; which is pretty inconspicuous, depending upon your view and how the light hits it. (We have 2 more matching chairs in very good condition that may be available and listed soon. If you need 2 … or 3…. We welcome buyer messaging….) Please also note that although the label is visibly dated “2004” … an embossed stamp on the seat’s bottom … dates the plastic shell at 9/06 … presumably September of 2006. It’s also worth recognizing that it is … for recyclable purposes … ecologically-minded, stamped “05”…. And … the chrome body is quite stable/heavy … weighing close to 13 lbs; the chair overall close to 15 lbs.
