The Block Clock was originally designed in 1960. The block clock emits the industrial feeling of the Atomic Art movement during the time. The most recognized mid century timepiece designer, Georg Nelson created over 150 iconic clocks during his career.

Modernist Icon Of Time

The block clock features solid, seemingly unbreakable hands. This is a completely opposite approach to the thin vulnerable arms of the majority of wall timepieces. The bold block style represents the strength and promise of the industrial age which at the time of its invention, was already well on its way. The retro blue color ties in the emerging pop-art era that was taking root in the early 60’s. George Nelson, the original designer was not a man too proud to own up to drunken drawing. Speaking of a night of partying and doodling with his architect friends, he admitted that he probably wasn’t truly the designer of the Ball clock with which he is credited. “…we’d had a little bit too much to drink

• and the next morning I came back, and here was this roll (of drafting paper), and Irving and I looked at it, and somewhere in this roll there was a ball clock. I don’t know to this day who cooked it up.”

The Block clock is best described as industrial atomic retro wall art, and makes a clever space impression, particularly if other modern classics occupy the room. The retro blue color series is a Pop art take on the original whimsical design. The feeling of strength from the solid overstated block arms is combined with the pop art color and the familiar mid century modern red second hand design. The minute and hour hands are decidedly strengthened on the block series with a heavily structural shape, versus the whimsical take on many of George’s pieces. He created over 150 designs for the Howard Miller company during the mid century years. We all have a need to know the time, but it does not mean timekeeping has to be boring. The best value for those looking for a full service delivery experience with no lifting or physical effort involved. A team of 2 rigorously screened home delivery professionals arrive on a day and time prescheduled with you. Your furnishings are brought into your home and placed in the desired location in the room(s) of your choice. The furniture is removed from the packaging/boxes. The old packaging material is then placed in a designated location.

Perhaps you need door(s) removed and replaced? Maybe you live in a condo or high rise building? Maybe there are flight(s) of stairs to climb? The safe arrival of your items is guaranteed and no obstacle is too large. We will do anything necessary to complete your delivery with quality, care and a smile. Average delivery times are 9-12 business days from the day your order leaves the Kardiel warehouse.

Curbside Residential Delivery

This economical delivery option brings your new furnishings direct to your home or business. The term curbside indicates that the items are brought to the "curb" but not inside the home.

This is a signed delivery option which means you will need to be present to accept the delivery. You will need to be prepared to carry the items into your home or office as this service does not include inside delivery. Tracking numbers are provided within 24 hours of your order leaving the Kardiel warehouse. Average delivery times nationwide for this service are 7-10 business days from the day the shipment leaves the Kardiel warehouse. The delivery is guaranteed safe when you inspect and sign with the driver for any potential shipping damage. The delivery company calls to schedule the delivery date and window of time as the arrival date of your items draws closer.

Hawaii & Alaska

Hawaii & Alaska orders allow average 12-18 business days for arrival. Tracking numbers will be provided. Alaska and Hawaii orders are not eligible for advertised "continental U.S" shipping promotions. As over water transport is involved, the shopping cart will not calculate
