Brown (1871-1945) was a respected California Artist known for her preference to Paint the world in which she lived; specifically Landscapes of the Southern California Desert. Do to her affinity for Painting Desert Landscapes, this particular Seascape is a rare departure from her vast array of works. A student of the California, Impressionist, movement, Brown utilizes the colors and brushstrokes that were commonly associated with the artistic style of the time; and does so with great use of the Canvas Boards spatial symmetry.
