Argumentative Writing-One to Five Paragraph Argumentative Essay

This lesson is intended to explain to students how to use the content from a single paragraph argumentative essay into a five paragraph argumentative essay. The students will learn how a topic sentence in a single paragraph essay becomes the thesis in a five paragraph essay. Similarly, they will learn how concrete details in a single paragraph essay become topic sentences of body paragraphs in a five paragraph essay. Finally, they will use the 'Five Paragraph Argumentative Planning' graphic organizer to lay out and plan an argumentative essay.
