N Windmill in Lemkenhafen
This model is the replica of the last of 22 windmills on the island of Fehmarn. The windmill was built in 1787 as a grit and pearl mill and operated with wind sails. In terms of appearance, it resembles a Dutch mill. This type of mill could previously be found frequently in the North Sea region from Belgium and the Netherlands via Germany to Denmark and Sweden. For grain grinding, it has naturally served today and was set up as a romantic prop and characteristic landmark from 1961 as a mill museum. Like the original, the model also resembles a tower-like construction in which only the cap, no longer the whole mill house, rotates by means of a triangular star to align the mill wings according to the sky directions in different winds. The entire casing of the mill hull shows wooden shingle plates, which in the model create a particularly successful contrast to the filigree wings.
