Hans Wegner, one of the most recognized names of modern Danish furniture design created the GE 290 Plank Series in 1953. Clean sweeping lines made of a solid ash frame and thick cube style cushions in soft cashmere wool are sure to evoke the retro spirit of the Danish Modern era in your setting.

Making the icon

Trendy since 1953, this icon of Danish modern furniture design has grown in popularity over the passing years. It reached “Classic Status” in Europe and Australia in the mid 1970’s. Its popularity in the U.S is now on the rise, however on a positive note, it is not a design that is known to the masses. Ownership of this series still has the advantage of exclusivity to it as it denotes a deeper understanding of the Mid-Century Designs and their designers.

Hans is no doubt the father of Danish Modern Furniture design. This series shows his desire to incorporate wood as is present in much of the Danish designs with wool upholstery for its practical comfort. This reproduction, built to the original specifications will please the most informed Danish modern furniture connoisseur. Similar to the wing chair, the frame of the plank series is pitched backward in angle in such a way that one can imagine the series being produced in a wind tunnel. The look denotes the forward thinking, forward direction Series GE 290 design. In previous designs, Hans had created single pieces. The notable element of the Plank series was the 1, 2 and 3 seat configuration as options.

About Cashmere Wool Tweed

Cashmere wool fiber is obtained from “Cashmere goats.” Historically, fine-haired Cashmere goats have been called Capra hircus laniger, as if they were a subspecies of the domestic goat Capra Hircus. Cashmere goats produce a double fleece that consists of a fine, soft undercoat or under-down of hair mingled with a straighter and much coarser outer coating of hair called Guard Hair. For the fine under-down to be sold and processed further, it must be de-haired. De-hairing is a mechanical process that separates the coarse hairs from the fine hair. After this separating process the resulting premium “cashmere” is ready to be dyed and converted into yarn.

This economical delivery option brings your new furnishings direct to your home or business. The term curbside indicates that the items are brought to the "curb" but not inside the home.

This is a signed delivery option which means you will need to be present to accept the delivery. You will need to be prepared to carry the items into your home or office as this service does not include inside delivery. Tracking numbers are provided within 24 hours of your order leaving the Kardiel warehouse. Average delivery times nationwide for this service are 7-10 business days from the day the shipment leaves the Kardiel warehouse. The delivery is guaranteed safe when you inspect and sign with the driver for any potential shipping damage. The delivery company calls to schedule the delivery date and window of time as the arrival date of your items draws closer.

Hawaii & Alaska

Hawaii & Alaska orders allow average 12-18 business days for arrival. Tracking numbers will be provided. Alaska and Hawaii orders are not eligible for advertised "continental U.S" shipping promotions. As over water transport is involved, the shopping cart will not calculate

We take the risk and make it easy in the unlikely event of freight damage. Simply inspect and sign for any damage or suspected damage on delivery day and prior to the driver leaving. In the event of damage, we will issue you a return ticket if needed and refund or replace the damaged item
