Construction

Mid-Century Modern Loveseat Sofa style. Tweed Cashmere Wool fabric type. Fabric content is 50% Cashmere Wool and 50% Synthetic Fiber. High-quality aluminum base in chip and flake resistant Chrome Finish. The body frame is constructed around a synthetic “dimension true” curvature fiberglass shell. The seat platform has a reinforced seat cushion platform for firm longer lasting support.

Features

Smooth contour cold-pressed foam body wrap provides a meticulously smooth contour for this design. It has cross edge stitch, removable ottoman, and chair seat and back cushions. The floor-protecting pad discs are flex angle and height adjustable. The entire sofa is stitched and crafted by hand and comes standard with floor protection caps on legs. Womb Mid Century Modern Loveseat Sofa

Finnish Modern Furniture Designer Eero Saarinen created the Womb Series in 1948. The Womb Series organic form is representative of the mid-century Scandinavian modernism style. The introduction of the loveseat Womb 2 seater brings increased seating capacity to the original inspired form.

Making the Icon

This sofa offers seating for 2 in a relatively small footprint. The design is known for its comfortable seating capability. The external metal frame lifts the body well off the floor providing a light airy feel. The Womb Series in the 2-seat loveseat configuration is relatively rare but highly sought after as a mid-century modern icon. The original designer believed strongly that the whole field of design is all one body. He had three design principles – function, structure, and being part of the time.

Cashmere Wool Tweed

Cashmere wool fiber is obtained from “Cashmere goats.” Historically, fine-haired Cashmere goats have been called capra hircus laniger. Cashmere goats produce a double fleece that consists of a fine, soft undercoat or under-down of hair mingled with a straighter and much coarser outer coating of hair called Guard Hair. The fine under-down must be de-haired to be sold and processed further.
