Womb Mid Century Modern Loveseat Sofa

Finnish Modern Furniture Designer Eero Saarinen created the Womb Series, originally known as the “Wombat” in 1948. The Womb Series organic form is representative of the mid century Scandinavian modernism style. The introduction of the loveseat Womb 2 seater brings increased seating capability to the original inspired form.

Making the Icon

The womb loveseat sofa offers seating for 2 in a relatively small footprint. The design of the Womb Chair is well known for its comfortable seating capability. The external metal frame lifts the body well off the floor providing a light airy feel. The Womb Series in the 2-seat loveseat configuration is a relatively rare but highly sought after midcentury modern icon. The original designer believed strongly that the whole field of design is all one body. He had three design principles – Function, Structure and being part of the time.

Eero Saarinen designed with the human body form in mind. A simple concept yes, but many designers prefer aesthetics to functionality. In nearly every case, a piece of furniture that rises to become a classic has both striking artistic form as well as function. Its organic form is representative of the midcentury Scandinavian modernism style of furniture using synthetic materials to create inspired forms.

About Cashmere Wool Tweed

Cashmere wool fiber is obtained from “Cashmere goats.” Historically, fine-haired Cashmere goats have been called Capra hircus laniger, as if they were a subspecies of the domestic goat Capra Hircus. Cashmere goats produce a double fleece that consists of a fine, soft undercoat or under-down of hair mingled with a straighter and much coarser outer coating of hair called Guard Hair. For the fine under-down to be sold and processed further, it must be de-haired. De-hairing is a mechanical process that separates the coarse hairs from the fine hair. After this separating process the resulting premium “cashmere” is ready to be dyed and converted into yarn.

The best value for those looking for a full service delivery experience with no lifting or physical effort involved. A team of 2 rigorously screened home delivery professionals arrive on a day and time prescheduled with you. Your furnishings are brought into your home and placed in the desired location in the room(s) of your choice. The furniture is removed from the packaging/boxes. The old packaging material is then placed in a designated location.

Perhaps you need door(s) removed and replaced? Maybe you live in a condo or high rise building? Maybe there are flight(s) of stairs to climb? The safe arrival of your items is guaranteed and no obstacle is too large. We will do anything necessary to complete your delivery with quality, care and a smile. Average delivery times are 9-12 business days from the day your order leaves the Kardiel warehouse.

Curbside Residential Delivery

This economical delivery option brings your new furnishings direct to your home or business. The term curbside indicates that the items are brought to the "curb" but not inside the home.

This is a signed delivery option which means you will need to be present to accept the delivery. You will need to be prepared to carry the items into your home or office as this service does not include inside delivery. Tracking numbers are provided within 24 hours of your order leaving the Kardiel warehouse. Average delivery times nationwide for this service are 7-10 business days from the day the shipment leaves the Kardiel warehouse. The delivery is guaranteed safe when you inspect and sign with the driver for any potential shipping damage. The delivery company calls to schedule the delivery date and window of time as the arrival date of your items draws closer.

Hawaii & Alaska

Hawaii & Alaska orders allow average 12-18 business days for arrival. Tracking numbers will be provided. Alaska and Hawaii orders are not eligible for advertised "continental U.S" shipping promotions. As over water transport is involved, the shopping cart will not calculate
