PK24 Icon Creation

Initially called the hammock chair, the PK24 marked Poul Kjærholm’s first adjustable lounge chair. Seen as a key design of the mid-century period, the PK24 draws inspirations from the French Chaise lounge (18th century), Thonet’s 7500 Bentwood Rocker (19th century), and the Le Corbusier LC4 Chaise (1930s). Users can adjust the sitting position of the PK24 using the interplay of gravity and the curvature of the notched rails. Considered one of Kjærholm's most functionally innovative designs, it features a gravity-aided pillow headrest balanced by a stainless steel counterweight.

Kardiel’s reproduction uses premium materials to capture the original PK24's essence. Crafted from Pure Top Grain Aniline Leather, it features a heat molded, stainless steel frame. Attention to detail is evident in the cross bodice leather stitching. As a unique and functional mid-century modern piece, PK24 remains an architectural achievement.
