Making the Icon

Sleek rectangular shapes define both the seat and frame design. Unlike many mid-century pieces, Eleanor combines comfortable seating with exceptional aesthetics. The snug fitted back design ensures a well-tailored appearance.

Button tufting is absent on the seat cushion for ease of maintenance, with a single row of button tufting on the back. The minimalist lines are accentuated by a gently cushioned frame and matching piping at the seams. The wooden legs provide a sense of grounding, while the stiletto design lifts Eleanor from the floor, giving it a spacious midcentury modern feel.

Aniline Dyeing involves soaking hides in transparent aniline dyes, allowing color to absorb into the natural hide. Top Grain Aniline leather is then protected to minimize liquid absorption during everyday use, without requiring imitation grain stamping. It breathes naturally, making it comfortable for seating, and is soft, supple, durable, and pliable.
