Tulip Dining Set, 24" Table & 2 Side Chairs, Red

$716.00

Eero originally conceived the chairs in the mid-50s, followed by the table in the early 60s. These designs swiftly received accolades from the Design Center Stuttgart in 1962, the Museum of Modern Art in 1969, and the Federal Design Award for industrial art, also in 1969. The Tulip chair is celebrated for its futuristic design, gaining further fame as part of the Star Trek set from 1966 to 1969. Today, it stands as a hallmark of modern dining aesthetics. Reproductions crafted from fiberglass and cast aluminum, like the originals, endure across generations. Many of the initial Tulip Table collections, all fiberglass-crafted, remain in use today. Eero discovered that while fiberglass maintained uniform color and shine, it couldn't support the table, prompting a switch to a cast aluminum base. By applying Rilsan coating on the aluminum, he matched the gloss and color of fiberglass, as seen in the Kardiel reproduction with its wool seat cushion. Most replicas today use plastic for the chair body, contrasting Kardiel's adherence to original materials, which impacts longevity and appearance. Tulip chairs made from fiberglass, despite a higher cost, outperform plastic alternatives both in durability and aesthetics. Kardiel's versions, true to Eero's design, feature pure white fiberglass molds set on aluminum bases, whereas most modern replicas use ABS plastic, which can break at stress points. Fiberglass represents the authenticity of the original design. Design features include a mid-century modern table and chairs, true to original cast aluminum base, pure fiberglass upper shell, and a 1.5" thick high polish fiberglass tabletop. The seat cushion comprises multi-density foam with a tweed cashmere wool fabric. Fabric is 50% cashmere wool, 50% synthetic fiber, and the chair base includes a 360-degree swivel. The seat cushion is removable for easy maintenance. Table dimensions are approximately 24", while chairs are 19" x 23" x 32". Also included are floor protection caps and multiple cushion color options. A 3-year limited warranty is provided. Cashmere wool is obtained from Cashmere goats, known for their fine undercoat fibers separated from coarser guard hairs, then dyed and spun into yarn. Kardiel ensures quick and secure delivery of furniture across the U.S., with options for curbside or white-glove service. Full-service delivery includes furniture placement and packaging removal, while economical curbside delivery requires recipient intervention.
