Wegner Presidential Dining Chair

The presidential chair AKA the “round chair” earned its name for its rounded back design. The original chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner in the year 1949. The chair coined the name “presidential” after its selection and use in the 1960 televised presidential debate between Nixon and Kennedy.

Making the Icon

The Kardiel reproduction of the Presidential chair is crafted entirely by hand. Using traditional joinery methods and being made of Solid Ash Hardwood, the chair construction is today as it was then. The upholstery selected for the Kardiel reproduction is Genuine Italian leather. The back forms a circle shape extending toward the front of the chair creating the arms. The seat platform is also made of wood then wrapped with multi-density low profile Dacron covered foam. True to the original design, the front legs extend upward meeting as the support structure for the arms.

This highly functional widely recognized chair is frequently used as an occasional seating chair, a dining chair and an office chair. This high quality reproduction features all of the quality construction points and has the good posture of civility and solid form at a fraction of the original cost.

About American Walnut

The American Walnut species is widely admired for its exceptional color tone and graining. While there are many stains which attempt to miimick the "walnut color" the actual American Walnut species acheives its brown tone without the use of stains. The natural wood presents lighter and darker tones within the various grains, something not acheivable with a topical stain. American Walnut in its natural state is a premium choice for wood species and used often in modernist upscale furniture pieces. American Walnut is capable of coordinating well with other wood species both light and dark.

About Italian Leather

High grade Italian leather is used on all surfaces of the Presidential chair. Italian Leather is a grade class above standard grade leather. Realistic leather graining and a softer surface to the touch results in a more comfortable lounging experience.

The best value for those looking for a full service delivery experience with no lifting or physical effort involved. A team of 2 rigorously screened home delivery professionals arrive on a day and time prescheduled with you. Your furnishings are brought into your home and placed in the desired location in the room(s) of your choice. The furniture is removed from the packaging/boxes. The old packaging material is then placed in a designated location.

Perhaps you need door(s) removed and replaced? Maybe you live in a condo or high rise building? Maybe there are flight(s) of stairs to climb? The safe arrival of your items is guaranteed and no obstacle is too large. We will do anything necessary to complete your delivery with quality, care and a smile. Average delivery times are 9-12 business days from the day your order leaves the Kardiel warehouse.

Curbside Residential Delivery

This economical delivery option brings your new furnishings direct to your home or business. The term curbside indicates that the items are brought to the "curb" but not inside the home.

This is a signed delivery option which means you will need to be present to accept the delivery. You will need to be prepared to carry the items into your home or office as this service does not include inside delivery. Tracking numbers are provided within 24 hours of your order leaving the Kardiel warehouse. Average delivery times nationwide for this service are 7-10 business days from the day the shipment leaves the Kardiel warehouse. The delivery is guaranteed safe when you inspect and sign with the driver for any potential shipping damage. The delivery company calls to schedule the delivery date and window of time as the arrival date of your items draws closer.

Hawaii & Alaska

Hawaii & Alaska orders allow average 12-18 business days for arrival. Tracking numbers will be provided. Alaska and Hawaii orders are not eligible for advertised "continental U.S" shipping promotions. As over water transport is involved, the shopping cart will not calculate
