Platform Mid-Century Modern Chair

Created in the mid-1950s, the Platform Chair is designed to be comfortable and visually appealing from all angles. Its longevity is attributed to premium materials like the Metal Sinuous No Sag "S Coil" Suspension seat platform and overstuffed Down Feather Cushions. The chair is architecturally suspended over a solid Natural Ash wood platform base, inspired by tree house living. The design is minimal and sleek with clean lines, featuring a modernist single panel fixed back and arms that curve upwards from the base. A unique aspect of the Platform Chair is its expansive wooden platform that suspends the chair above the floor.

Inspired by Tree House Architecture

An icon of mid-century modern design, the Platform Chair is known for its substantial wooden base. Inspired by tree house architecture, the platform is made from solid varnished Natural Ash timbers. This architectural element features a specific lean-back angle and spans the front, sides, and underneath, extending artistically to support the back. The width of the wooden frame exceeds that of the upholstered chair, creating interesting angled spaces. As the frame moves up the back of the chair, it angles back in to cradle the rear of the chair. The wooden platform is a solid element that allows you to place the chair anywhere in the room.

The single mid-century modern seat cushion design features a multi-density foam core, overstuffed with down feathers for a comfortable seating experience. The Platform Chair is a substantial modernist design crafted entirely by hand, from the wooden frame to the feather-stuffed cushions and stitching of the upholstery.

ABOUT VINTAGE TAILORED TWILL

Twill is an interwoven knit fabric with a pattern that appears somewhat random from a normal distance but is discernible up close. Vintage Tailored Twill features a finer, tightly tailored flat weave appearance, providing a more refined look than typical coarse twill. The multi-tone nature of the fabric strands adds depth and texture.
