Description
The Kardiel Flag Halyard chair, complete with its leather pillow and sheepskin, balances contemporary design with a solid stainless frame and textured lines. Originally revealed in Denmark in 1960, it quickly gained iconic status. Its expansive, low design is ideal for relaxation and comfort.
DESIGNING THE ICON
An interesting tale relates to its creation by Danish designer Wegner, who reportedly drew inspiration from a beach setting in the late 1940s. Utilizing found sailing rope, he crafted the unique grid seat. This innovative design entered production in the 1950s.
Wegner's Flag Halyard Chair is recognized widely from design books and film appearances. The interplay of rope, steel, and sheepskin remains unique in furniture design. Wegner's aim was to showcase creativity using diverse materials.
